Keep a daily Diary

Voice notes are just as good, if not better

As part of my knowledge base, I operate two different sources, my Apple notes, together with an Apple Pages written ePub. Within the Apple notes I use three or more different hash tags, to spread the information over what might have been different folders. The ePub is a project to put out to my Private Subsack, for people to add the their own Knowledge base.

The scays Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

For hash Tags, I use #Dictionary hash tage for terms I see on the internet, that I can save by copying and pasting together with a copy of the URL into Apple Notes, this I can add to later, but I can also add other hash tags as most terms can be allocated to different meanngs and often projects

You daily Blog

I write constantly, often its just a note in my daily note book, but at some point I often end up paraphrasing a day into text and adding my #daily_diary hashtag

These notes are just that, notes, ramblings thoughts and so often thoughts I need to get out of my head, as I often forget them, so I use the dictation app within Apple Notes to get that thought out, I will later come back to it, but as its already transcribed, I just copy and paste below the recording icon, and add hash tags as needed.

Thanks for reading The scays Newsletter! This post is public so feel free to share it.

I do this, not because I am to lazey to open the app, but if I search I want those transcriptions to be found, they will not be if I leve them as an audio file.

Voice I find, is great when walking my dog, I just ask Siri to make a note, and away I go, same for the car., the best thing is the transcription.

As you see from the screen grab above, I can often make several voice notes, on the same subject, all waiting for me to run the transcription.

For students, this is a breakthrough, A library visit is now just read the book the paragraph or sentence, recording on the app, and copy and paste as needed.

I think everyone will have their own way of working to build there knowledge base up. I have many this being the best.

I also use this trick when I send a website or YouTube link to Notes from my iPhone, I add a little voice note to remind me why I did it in the first place, its so much quicker and meaningfull than typing a note.

Oh one last thing, I have used a different video recording app, today, using QuickTime Player, hence the wide screen

Enjoy.
